I was born in Highland Park, Illinois on July 31, 1989. When I was four years old my parents and I moved to a city called Round Lake Beach, Illinois, which is a northern suburb of Chicago. We lived there up until high school and moved to Marcellus, Michigan which is where my mom is originally from. I started my freshmen year of high school at Marcellus High School which is a small farming community located on the west side of the state and 45 minutes south of Kalamazoo.
This project discusses my writing experiences thus far. Multiple writing genres are embedded into this project and include emails, poetry, research papers, letters, and many more. I have samples of writing that I've created from first grade up until this point.
It has always been easier for me to write based on my personal experiences as well as my interests. Some of my interests have always included sports, animals, swimiming, and being with my loved ones and friends.
Writing is like a rollercoaster ride
As u read through my journey with writing, it is easy to say that writing is like a roller coaster ride for me. It has its ups and down, but in the end you're happy you decided to get on the ride.
When you first go up that hill, you are scared. The anticipation is intense and you don't know what is on the other side. This is how writing was for me. I was scared to write when I was in elementary. How was I going to be able to write when i could barely print my letters? Eventually I got the hang of it, just as you do when you're on a rollercoaster.
However, there are those bumpy times on the rollercoaster, which was also a reflection of my writing. In high school I hated to write, unless they were notes to my friends. I thought writing in school was tedious and I did not want to waste my time. I wouldn't allow myself to write, which was a definate problem.
At the end of a rollercoaster, you're definately relieved you decided to take that journey. This is the case for me as of right now. I'm glad I have been given the opportunity to be able to write and it can only go up from here.
